Afternoon Tea is currently one of the most popular dining attractions at Blas Restaurant within Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel & Spa, serving on average 450 people per week. Afternoon Tea is served daily between 1pm-5pm Monday – Saturday and between 3pm-6pm on Sundays in Blas Restaurant. Blas has incredible views across the golf course and surrounding valleys, including a glimpse of Pen-y-Fan.
We find that when booking customers are often unsure of what is included, as there are so many names for the afternoon treat but all have different meanings…
Our traditional afternoon tea consists of an array of crustless sandwiches, usually cream cheese and cucumber, egg mayonnaise, tuna, cheese and pickle or ham and mustard. Also served is a scone with clotted cream and fruit preserves plus a variety of cakes. This is £16.95 per person.
We often get asked for High Tea, believing it is served with prosecco or champagne but traditionally it was when more savoury items were added to the selection such as a steak and ale pie or a pork pie. A glass of prosecco can be added on for £5.50 per person.
Again, many people ask for a Cream Tea. The name originates from Devon and Cornwall, and has stuck. This is simply a scone or two served with a fresh pot of tea. This is served in the bar area of Blas Restaurant between 9am-12pm for £5.45 per person
Over the last few years, there has been a big rise of speciality teas. At Bryn Meadows we host a different speciality teas throughout the year.
As the nights draw in and the evenings get colder, you can warm up with our Autumnal Afternoon Tea served until the 25th November. The menu includes traditional finger sandwiches, fruits of the forest crumble tart, chocolate fudge cake, macaron’s, autumn apple jelly topped with cream and a Bryn Meadows chocolate, gingerbread cupcake, warm scones served with clotted cream and jam, unlimited tea or coffee or spiced pumpkin hot chocolate for £19.95 per person.
During half term we will also be celebrating Halloween meets Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead tradition dates back 3,000 years to the time of the Aztecs, though it is now celebrated around the world. The Mexican theme is all about bright colours, celebrating with family and friends, and having a good time. Our Halloween inspired afternoon tea will encompass this, as well as the spookier elements. You can expect sandwiches, themed cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam plus tea, coffee and cordials. This can be booked on Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th October at 12pm or 4pm or on Friday 2nd November at 12pm. Tickets are £21.95 per adult, £10.95 per child (aged 3-12).
Our birthday, bridal and babyshower packages are very popular. Celebrations take place in a private room decorated with vintage bunting, and the traditional afternoon tea is served on vintage china. These are £19.95 per person for 10 or more guests.
If you require a gluten free, dairy free or if you have a medical allergy, please mention this at the time of booking. Those who need a vegetarian or vegan menu can also be catered for. It does mean that your selection of sandwiches will be different to those you are dining with.
Pre-booking is essential, as our Afternoon Teas are made to order. This can be done with the Reservations Team on 01495 225590 or reservations@brynmeadows.co.uk
